Mary Had A Little Lamb
Did you know that this best known English nursery rhyme was first published by Sarah Joseph Hale on this very day in 1830? Talk about standing the test of time!
Until I researched Mary Had A Little Lamb, I thought it was from around one hundred years later. I also thought it would have been written by someone we have heard of, like say Enid Blighton.
Another interesting fact is that the poem was the first-ever recorded poem. It was recorded by Thomas Edison on a phonograph, with Edison himself reading the poem!
Anyway, here is the full poem for those of you who don’t know it. Plus a link to the music sheet for our musically-inclined readers
